Merv Wyse
Youth Pastor & Office Manager
Merv was reared in a pastor’s home in Naubinway, an Upper Peninsula town just 45 minutes west of St. Ignace. His personal faith was placed in Jesus Christ when he was 12 years old. He was active in church youth activities and developed a passion for working with youth. He moved to St. Ignace in 1977 for employment, but immediately plugged into Glen Memorial Baptist Church as an Awana volunteer, organist, and working alongside others with the teens.
In July of 1986, the former youth pastor, Bill “Circuit Rider” Newman, moved to Chicago and passed the cloak onto Merv.
Merv continues to serve the Saints Alive Youth Ministry as youth pastor with a team of other leaders. He continues to be passionate about the next generations of young adults and their walk with the Lord.
Merv is married to Judy, and they have five grown children and ten grandchildren. Judy is the daughter of Wayne and Margot Foote, the founders of Glen Memorial Baptist Church.
