Covenant of Membership

Glen Memorial Baptist Church

Believing that Jesus Christ, crucified and risen from the dead, is indeed Lord and Savior, and being united with him in baptism, and being in agreement with GMBC’s doctrine, vision, and structure, so do we now solemnly and gladly covenant with each other, as God shall enable us,

To Guard Our Unity, by walking together in love, being neither quick to find fault nor to take offense, but rather, quick to forgive; in humility, being eager to assume the best and seek the best in others; and by participating in each other’s joys and bearing each other’s burdens and sorrows with tenderness and sympathy.

To Pursue Maturity As One Body, by submitting to Jesus Christ as head, to the elders as Christ’s under-shepherds as they pursue our joy, and to one-another in brotherly love; by being equipped in the use of and diligently employing our spiritual gifts; by speaking the truth in love; by restoring any fallen brothers in a spirit of gentleness and by praying earnestly for one-another.

To Share in Christ’s Ministry, by developing a servant’s heart; by inviting others to the obedient discipleship of Christ; and by being joyfully willing to suffer loss for the sake of the gospel of Jesus Christ.

To Advance Our Testimony, by attending faithfully; by contributing regularly according to our ability with generosity; and by keeping our speech gracious and our conduct honorable among men, that God may be glorified.
